DREAMLANDS luoghi dell'altrove

The new volume DREAMLANDS (places from elsewhere) in the authorial series by ISP (Italian Street Photography) is ready. It is a special book dedicated to visionary and dreamlike photography, edited by Paola Riccardi.
What do we mean by dream photography? Simply projects that go beyond reality, or rather that offer us a personal and poetic look, that goes beyond the description of reality and transcends its intimate meaning.
The volume is the fourth in the series of author's books inaugurated by ISP two years ago with Back to the Past, followed by the second Wedding Time and the third Urbanscape - browsable online at https://issuu.com/isp-italianstreetphotography.
The volume presents projects and series of 20 authors: Claudio Battista, Machiel Botman, Sergio Bruno, Beppe Castellani, Paolo Della Corte, Franco Donaggio, Patrizia Dottori, Fulvia Farassino, Giovanni Firmani, Matteo Garzonio, Teun Hocks, Enrica Magnolini, Fausto Meli, Mimmi Moretti, Silvia Noferi, Claudio Palma, Graziano Perotti, Enrico Prada, Nicoletta Prandi, Patrizia Riviera.

The official presentation of Dreamlands will be held on 22 October in Milan Alcentoquarantadue, viale Monza 142, at 6.00 pm.

DECADE of CHANGE

I am very proud to have been awarded in this competition whose topic is particularly close to my heart.

The winning photo is part of the Fireberg08 |Hot|As|Ice project that you can visit in my gallery.

The contest was organized by 1854 Media, editor of the British Journal of Photography, at this link you can read all the winners of the first Decade of Change!

Around the world, governments continue to fail to act on climate change. But photography can act as a mirror. A warning sound. A vehicle for the truth.
Decade of Change is a global environmental initiative designed to harness the universal power of photography to galvanize climate action.
The exhibition is currently on tour from the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change (open until November 2021) and in New York later this year as part of The Nest Summit in partnership with The Climate Museum.

IL ROSA NON CI PIACE (We don't like pink)
a different look at the female world

On Sunday 19th September I will be present at the "Il rosa non ci piace" event, a meeting on female stereotypes in multicultural contexts, where I will speak about my "Lapides" project.
“Lapides” is a work on women that tells, through a dress that recalls feminine beauty deprived of a body, about gender discrimination. Beauty and energy suggest strenuous resistance against those who try to suppress thought. The stones, thrown out of fear, are the same ones that transmit the strength to fight.

Every day, there is still a need to fight.
Visit the "Lapides" gallery.

LE VIE DELL'IMMAGINARIO in MODICA ALTA (Sicily)

On July 15, the Church of SS Nicolò and Erasmo opened to the public to host the event dedicated to Federico Fellini.
You can immerse yourself in the visual and sound atmospheres of Fellini's films.
"Le vie dell'immaginario" is an annual event dedicated to artists who have created stories and characters that have become symbols, that is, something that goes beyond the conventional meaning and indicates the tension between the visible and the invisible.
This first edition is dedicated to director Federico Fellini and his visionary and fantastic art.
A path that starts from the Church of SS Nicolò and Erasmo, set up with a scenography that reproduces scenes from Fellini's films, and crosses the oldest district of Modica furnished with works and installations by artists from various parts of Italy. Arcades, internal gardens, caves, churches transformed into lounges where you can stop and eat typical local products

Inside the church you will also find on exhibit some photos from my work "Sentidos Revelados".

FireBerg '08 will soon be in New York City!

I am thrilled to announce that this year FireBerg '08 Hot | As | Ice was among the winners of the Decade of Change competition and will be exhibited at The Nest Summit for New York's Climate Week in collaboration with The Climate Museum! An extraordinary opportunity to show my work to those who play a crucial role in climate action.

Firebergs is a work born from the strong emotions I felt on the Perito Moreno glacier in Argentina. In the series The Beginning and Hot | As | Ice, I translate through the colors the sensation of heat, also visual, experienced in Argentina: ice, in itself a cold element, burns giving a sensation of heat. Since the melting contains in itself the concept of heat, the use of negative printing has meant that the cracks in the glaciers become volcano cracks and the expanses of water become incandescent earth.

The event will be held from 21 September 2021 at the Javits Center.

IN-VISIBLE CITIES
Exhibition of fine art photographs curated by Flavia rovetta
from 29 April to 28 May 2021
Carlo D'Orta Artstudio Gallery
Piazza Crati 14 00199 Rome

The imagined city is a place of possibility, where everything is shaped by language, be it verbal or not. There are no contradictions in such a place, since its very essence is nourished by unexpected events, discrepancies, paradoxes. Here, then, that vibrant, floating, distorted cities appear, quivering with a teeming life. They are a reflection of what has been or can still be: vivid and real places in the imagination, or only lucidly imagined in reality.
Carlo D'Orta (with Vibrazioni) and Patrizia Dottori (with "Americana Breakfast table set") do not limit themselves to representing cities, but have the demiurgic ability to build them, to make them In-Visible Cities: ethereal and evanescent and, at the same time, concretely visualized through the photographic lens.
Imaginative, but no less true. (F. Rovetta)

The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday 16-19 and on other days and times by appointment by calling the numbers 328/0416111 - 347/3626823
The entrances will be staggered in compliance with the sanitary dpcm. It is advisable to agree on the visit in advance by booking the time.
